AFAIK you wont be able to because the throttle is before the supercharger.

No a BOV will not work on a 4AGZE.
BOVs vent excess pressure built up before the throttle after the throttle closes. Since the throttle is BEFORE the SC on a ZE then the space before the throttle is NEVER under pressure. So BOV wont work.
And as has been said before you cant get the fulsik pssssssht sound.

BOV's don't give you a power gain even on turbo cars - they exist to increase reliability and longevity of the turbo.

I've actually seen this done, and someone keep a straight face while asking me why it didn't work...
As for making more power, it's about the same as the reduction in aerodynamic drag when driving with your neons switched on. Now, reckon you'd have time to run over to Repco and grab me a tin of spark plug gaps??

My mate had a turbosmart type 2 BOV on his 4AGZE rolla. I have no idea if it improved power but it worked as far as it made noise and it sounded quite unique. BD4's apparently made it up for the bloke who originally did the conversion.

yes it does make a nice sound, you hear the s/c spinning/whizzing when it vents.
BUT.. put your hand over the BOV, see which way the air goes when it vents. it SUCKS in dude. the s/c is in a vacum as soon as the throttle is closed.
how do i know this? i wanted to see what it did for myself so i can tell people it doesnt work from experience...

I never ceases to amaze me what a profound impact the bloody Blow off valves have had on the 'performance ' scene.
One more time....

I'm afraid that some of the technical content of that particular website leaves a little to be desired.
As stated here by numerous people before me in this thread, and one hundred thousand others across the internet - A Blow-off valve on a 4A-GZE will not work, and is a waste of time.
I wonder if the money hoarding folks down at BD4's call that one their custom "suck-it valve"
/end rant/
appologies, but over at www.twincam16.com this topic has seriously come up over 1000 times!

Just to change the argument...
How about if you mounted the (recirculating) BOV with the base on the throttle side of the SC, the outlet vent plumbed in after the SC and the vacuum connection taken from manifold pressure.
Would this work in the same way as the factory ABV, venting around the SC when it causes a restriction?

Mind if I butt in with a small question - WHY exactly do we WANT to put any kind of such valve there in the first place?
With supercharging, it depends entirely where the throttle is. If it is before the blower, then those with brains put a bypass valve on around the blower for cruising, idle, etc. to stop excessive air heating etc. If the blower is before the throttle, then a 'blow off valve' MUST be used to prevent bent throttles etc. - but when Toyota have done a pretty reasonable job with a bypass valve from the factory, why change it? It's not like you're going to pick up 45Kw by changing a few hoses - why not spend time looking at the HORRIBLE pipework/cooler/manifold/etc. instead?

ive done it, and some times my boost guage, goes over the standard 8psi to 10psi, thats with stock pulley too!
if you have done this, forget i even spoke!
