When the middle cam cover is removed from a 7MGTE, there are these hex bolts in between the spark plugs. Anybody know what they are for? (i'm not talking about the hex bolts that hold the middle cam cover on, i'm talking about the hex bolts underneath that middle cam cover.)
there not attached to the block are they? is it vital that they are torqued to a certian lbs? I'm retorqing the head as soon as i can find the right friggin fitting for those headbolts. But i also wandered what those middle hex bolts are for. thanx

they are holes in the head from when the head was machined from a lump of alloy. When machining was done they had to close off the holes.
leave them alone.

PITA if they start leaking
not leaking? dont touch em!
if youve played with them, no dramas really, just make sure theyre clean and tight when you put them back in. touch of silicone wouldnt kill it either...
