New Corolla Sportivo is about $30K + On Road Costs.
Have to agree with Rob RA40 : new Camry from the rear looks like Barge Arse with hideous oversized tail lights. Front end looks OK though.

Wow, you can be choosy?
If so, tell him to get the V6.
Get the rolla if you want a "european styled sports car", (pfft, wankers), or want to become a "mover and shaker" and bonk the bosses daughter.
In the end though, be glad he isn't getting you a commonwhore or a slugna as they typically tend to do.
But tell ya what, if you really can be choosy, tell him you want a BA XR6.

I wouldn't piss on a ford if it was on fire
I just test drove a camry sportivo.....
Can You supercharge that engine??
It's pretty much a dog to drive.
I prefer the magna.
I really don't think an extra 5kw over the base model makes a car "sporty".
And I definatly would not pay 43k for one.

The flat torque curve makes it seem like it's "a dog to drive", but it's not that slow.
TRD do a supercharger for them, but you pay for those three letters....
It's a nice car. Not what I'd call sporty, but it's a good mix of practicality with a bit of grunt. And the Toyota build quality.

Really I found the built quality rather low.
ie I opened the door and the door handle locked open and the door wouldn't shut until I hit it back in.
Once on the move the car had a good pick up, but I wouldn't want to try pulling an excel in one
the handling was very flat on conering
The flat battery was not a good start, and the sales man knew dick about cars.
Quote: "yeah It'll pull a 1600kg boat out of the water no probs"
Funny a V6 dunnydore can't.

Are you sure you know what you want?
Just get a slugna or a commonwhore and be happy when they start to fall apart and/or are in the shop getting a new engine fitted.
Or just go fudge it and get a base WRX.

I'd LIKE a RWD Toyota.
But from what I have to Choose from:
Camry 4cyl base model
Exec dunnydore
base Ford
Base model Magna
None of them Have any real potenital or practicle for what I want
ie there is no parking around here for a car that big (I love my celica) and none of them can tow the boat I use.
I'd rather drive my Celica...

Sounds like you could probably use a RAV4 then.
But why hate the falcon so much? It's obviously the most superior one in the list. And I wouldn't be getting a 4 cylinder camry either. I've learnt the hard way that if you have a choice of a 4 or 6, get the 6, as the car is usually, (and does hold true), a larger car more suited to the larger engine option.
But since you require something small and can tow, (good luck you hard to please fellow ), yea, have a look at the rav.

I do come across as a picky bastard don't I?
My boss sprung this on me yesterday and I really didn't have time to do too much research on the subject of company cars.
I'm trying to justify a $15,000 + salery sacrifice on a car that I'm not going to keep. over 4 years thats $60,000 and I'd rather put that 60k towards somthing worth while.
To clarify what I'm after:
either 1 a big car that can tow the boat I use. (ie holden Ute) As a Ute would be practicle for me at the moment)
or
a small car thats sporty (ie corolla, Is200) that will get me around.
I have been looking at a novated lease where I keep the car at the end of the lease. in which case I'd be pushing for a holden ute as the resale on any ute is fairly good compared to other "fleet" cars or an IS200 (thinks BEAMS)
I still need to sit down and do the pros and cons of getting somthing in the middle (read fleet car) as in the end it get me a reliable car and a little more cash in the pay cheque at the end of the month and the opportunity to pull the Celica off the road for a rebuild.
I suppose it would come down to which of the fleet cars would hold value the best which I think would be the camry and the magna over the ford & holden???

Mmmmm... More thinking. You do require something that can tow and isn't overly large as it was implied before.
I'd be going for a RWD or AWD. And knowing your budget now and you want to keep value, how about a forester GT? You want reliability too, so the last thing you want is a holden right now.
But you'd probably have to settle upon a fleet car yea, the camry and the slugna would keep a higher value. But for all you'll want to do (I loath to suggest this), but since there is no AWD camry yet, have a look at the AWD slugna. But you do want reliability. It is a hard choice, but as you said it's not a car you'll be keeping so you could get whatever you wanted and know you'll not have to put up with the usual quirks they develop with age.

holden ute ?
towing ???? AhAha - you crack me up
the holden utes ( bar the original HQ to wb one tonner - THATS a real holden ute ) cant carry poo , they are designed for the new age holden bogan who cant afford a monaro for 2 doors, or jimmy the bundy drinker who wants to go do doughnuts in his mate jonesys back paddock ..
Now THATS being bias !
if you want to tow - get a falcon ute or sedan ( at least their rear can take weight ) or a larger Awd like a cruiser ..
in all seriousness - the holden ute VS a falcon ute - there is no comparison - the ford IS a ute - and has practicality on its side - the holden isnt as good for loads or towing when compared toe to toe ( thats a genuine fact backed suggestion )
have you thought about a hilux V6 ?

well the boffins at ford who designed the AU utes arent that bright if you get a towball on there the back ftray will smack on the towball so next time you see an AU ute with a tow ball on it check out the ding (i've seen 3 ) i hope the geniuses at ford changed this for there BA.

i wouldve thought it wouldve been the holden as there are heaps of aftermarket gear for the gen3's, i will admit a worked gen3 sounds fkn mean (the one im thinking of has 580rwhp) but i guess your talking about the suspension side of thing right?

nods - suspension wise the holden ute is setup more like a sports car/sedan - ie not for heavy loads ..
they have an IRS setup that really cant deal with big loads ( dunno what the new holden ute is like - im referring to VX and before ) they probably handle a smidgen better than the falcons - but i wouldnt tow a trailer with a car / caravan/ boat with one
the HDT one was a one off - the HDT maloo - you wont see something like that on the road carrying branches or bags of cement

Ahh ok !
see this is where the ford has it
it might have an ancient live axle setup under its bum but it can bear the weight and balance it alot better than the IRS can
this is the pont alot of the commo ute owners have mentioned has been a problem - ie the IRS not able to bear weight - whereas the falcon can - without having tyre killing camber

As for the reasons posted and more, that would have been my very last choice. (Actually, it wouldn't have even made my choice list).
But I hope it goes well for you and you are one of the lucky ones that don't have to keep filling it up with oil or keep getting the engine rebuilt.

Then they have the new 4 door ute for the family man bogan. For when they can't afford a stretch limo.

I've built up a HJ, HX, WB Holden utes and yes they are a real ute...
As for The VY Ute's Payload Yes It is Crap ( 320kg or somthing like that) but for towing a boat (dual axel and well balanced)
the Ute has the balls to do that.
As for the Jimmy Bundy drinker Crack.... That would be me
The VY one tonner IS a one tonner, The Ute is a sedan with a tray.
