 1GGTE into 83 hilux

Hey,
ive got a 83 hilux and im very interested in getting a 1ggte into it, has anyone done this conversion b4,
ive got minor knowledge about the enige, just need to know about any little things which mite help me on my way

is the hilux 2wd
i've seen it done on a later model it seemed to fit pretty good
the first thing you need to do is identify which sump configuration you will need, there are 3 types front mid and rear. it all depends where your crossmember sits.

well i have a torsion bar front suspension setup so i think either the front or middle sump should fit nicely
how easy are they to find?

from what i've seen the front sump engines arent as common as the mid sump ones
most of the water to air intercooled versions seem to be front sump, but i've seen a 1ggze with a front sump too

Front sumps also came on earlier 1GGEU's and 1GEU's (like mine). They definetly aren't as common as most of the 1G's that come through nowadays are later model ones from GA70 Supras that all had mid.

I put a 1GGZE in my YN57 Hilux 2wd, pretty easy as fot he sump (had a middle hump sump but had to chop it a bit to fit the steering thingy and the crossemember thingy). I got some photo's if you want to have a look there just normal car photo's nothing tech about them tho.

youll need two passenger side engine mounts elongate the holes a little and shell bolt straight in,(asuming you have a 3y under the bonnet) cant remember what sump we used though

what about a 1jzgte .. i have a 1jz in my 90 model 2wd .. went in fairly easy . im helping a mate do his too .. sump was a same as jza70 or soarer .. so what ever that is .. mid i think .. either way .. good luck .. if not try a sr20 ... my next door neighbor has one in a 85 hilux so it is possible ..

well i really like the idea of the 1ggte
i currently have an 18r under my bonnet, im guessing i would need new mounts for the engine?

Cut the engine mounts out and remount them in were the disel motor sits little bit of a mod to the xmember and your in bussness make shore you have the motor and box in, line it all up and your half way home.need any advice its free if i can help at all phone me 0412106269 its a great mod you will not regret it.

petty well that easy if you got the time and the dollars and not scared to do most of it your self you will safe your self heaps.Like i say the gays and gals on here are a big help you only have to ask some one will no.
