4age clutches

Hi all, what clutches are everyone running on their rwd 4age engines?
I was slack when doing the conversion and used the old 4ac clutch which is starting to slip and needs replacing.
Want something that can take some abuse but is used as a daily driver in traffic so cannot be toooo heavy/bitey.
Cheers

i have a Daikin Exedy x-treme Performance clutch on my RWD 4AGE. part number is R361NHD. cost about $140 and believe it or not, the pedal is lighter than with the stock (factory fitted ) AISIN 4AGE clutch. this is a full face organic clutch plate and it grips extremely well and cops a fair bit of abuse.

I also have an exedy performance full faced organic clutch, and strangely enough, it does not slip behind my 4AGTE pedal is very light too, as Dorikin said.
Part number for mine was R321NHD. Dont know what the difference is from yours.....

Ooooh.... If I might add a few words! I bought 2 Exedy Extreme Daikin clutches, each lasted a couple of weeks - the first one being the full face, second being the puck version. The problem? Stuff all clamp force, slipped and burnt!
My suggestion for an NA 4ag would be the toughest full faced setup from Direct Clutch - still perfectly usable in traffic, and should never die with NA grunt. Short of that, the cheap-o RPM clutch kit should suffice!

I agree mrshin, I also would not have expected the Exedy full face to hold up, but somehow it does I've used an RPM heavy duty kit also, which started slipping after 6 months of abuse.

Hmm lots of conflicting info on Exedy's clutches.
I had an RPM clutch behind my 3TGTE when it was stock and only lasted 6 months or so. The material came off the plate.
Thanks all for your ideas so far.

The reason I stuck with a full faced organic clutch is because I prefer it to be the weak link (although its not that weak) rather than the gearbox or diff, as I still have a T50 5 speed & T series diff. Remember that when you go to slam a gear with a T50 gearbox & harsh button clutch....

Yeah, a good long time ago when I still had a T50 it remembered it when I nailed it in 2nd gear one day, that crunching noise was awesome
But so far as the exedy/daikin kits, well, in my view they're utter crap, after 2 of them died on me so quickly... And the button version sure wasn't hard to use in traffic at all (I didn't find)

its not hard to use, just annoying.... only 4 puck, brass gives small takeup point and its very high up and if you get it wrong it shudders like a bitch. Its the shudder that annoying plus it squeeks cos of brass.

That's the thing - every other button clutch I'd used had been annoying to use, but the exedy thingo, with it's enormous lack of clamp pressure and weakly made pressure plate, was very easy...
Another point - both my pressure plates ended up severely warped in a matter of days.

I'm using a Exeedy clutch same as Dorikin. Never had a problem with it. Worth the money from my experience. Infact i've always used exeedy in my cars. My 2c worth.

i use an Extreme clutch made by Adelaide Clutch...
it's a 4-puk ceramic, with a 3/4 ton pressure plate. it goes for $300(if you're me... ), and takes a crapload of abuse.
i put one in a mate's map gze powered ae86, and it's been in there for 2 years....he flogs that car every day....poor car. if you want one, i'll get you one, and post it to you. shipping will be $20 extra.

Does anyone know if the 4AGE out of the AE82 corolla uses a 8" or 8.5" clutch?
Thanks
