4AGE alternator. Zorst side. Wed, 15 October 2003 07:24 Go to next message
OK after speaking with T only the 4AGZE from the AW11 came with the alternator mounted on the zorst side.

I too have done this, using a 4AC lower mount and a custom bracket up top which is average.

Is there any other 4AGE application which mounts the alternator on the exhaust side? Like ae92 ZE, 20v ect ect?

Please help I ideally want a factory setup and don't want to move it to the inlet side? I've put a WTD ad in the parts wanted section.

it's no drama to move the wiring to the other side of the engine bay. i bet you could even do it yourself. i recall that we had mine done at the auto elec and it took no time at all!!!

I tried to find the same, but ended up having to fabricate a bracket in the end.

Freak you can mount the 4age alternator on the gze mounts and exhaust side, you just have to make a small extender bar (flat bar) to space the top of the alternator away from the block so the 12v+ lead doesnt hit it.
then there is a little playing around with the wiring, but nothing major.

In reference to your original post, doesnt the AE92 GZE mount the alternator on the exhaust side also? I cant imagine any GZE being able to fit both the blower & alt on the intake side. I'm fairly certain that my AE92 GZE had a large heavy cast iron bracket on the exhaust side which ran almost the full height of the motor, and mounted the alternator & p/steer pump (maybe even aircon?)

Another thing to note is that the alternators for either side of the motor are different in the way that they mount to the top adjuster bracket.

Freak yes all the 4agze's had the alt on the exhaust side.
the later ones had it mounted below the a/c compressor by memory (power steer, a/c comp, alt) and the aw11 one is mounted above the a/c compressor.

the ge one does fit on the aw11 gze as i mentioned above.
as for the later gze's?

yeah phil, the ae92 mounts it way down low on the zorst side so it will foul on the swaybar in my ta22, so no good.

its the adjuster bracket thats killing me phil. i've got the bottom mount sussed - using a 4AC RWD one there, no issues, but, its the top adjuster which is dodgy, i've basically made a bracket coming off one of the two bolts where the dizzy bolts to to hold the adjuster which, ain't the ideal way.

i have to suss out another idea using a FWD 4AC mount with aircon which is high up but i might be able to use it for the adjuster.

pity i've got to have a bloody alternator. if i didn't need it i'd piss it off and do without Very Happy
