There is quite a lot of room in there behind the bumper. Your could get a 2nd hand Mitsubishi VR4 intercooler for around $350 - $400. I am using a R33 Skyline GTS-T intercooler (because it was given to me) which is approx 30cm x 30cm and which seems to cope with 15psi OK. Although no doubt it is a little restrictive and/or not cooling the air as much as ideally I would like. They would be cheaper-ish, like $250 or less I imagine. Another option is Supra intercooler (7MGTE motor I think)...

See alot of cheap Soarer IC's from guys who have up-graded. They can go from $150 to $350 bucks. Saw a few 2nd hands on this site a while back... not affiliated in any way... just a chronic internet window shopper. www.japimports.com.au ... That is the way I'll be going when I piss off my stock SC intercooler. (if i can find somewhere to fit it!!!) Should do the job at regular boost levels.

I suggest do it once and do it properly,
At bare minimum get a VR4 jap spec cooler..
I run one of these with the outlets modified to 2.5" and yeah they go for about $300..
No point getting a crappy thing then having to change the piping/tuning again when you get a better one..
