7MGE Manual Box

Just wondering if any one can help me out. I can get my hands on a manual box clutch flywheel etc of a non turbo 7MGE VERY cheap.
Now I am wondering how STRONG are these boxes? As I am wanting to convert my turbo cressida to a manual and was wondering if they are strong enough to handle the 7MGTE?
If any one knows and could tell me it would be VERY appreciated!!!!

Apparently these are good for 400Hp if treated well. Not as big and tough as the R154 box from the Supra Turbo, but a much better shift. If it's in good nick I can't see you breaking one behind a mildly worked 7m in the Cressida (lighter than a Supra anyway). I doubt it'd be worth the extra $$$ for an R154.

Thats the kind of respons I wanted to hear!! I can get it for $250 the lot and thats including a 7MGE motor (which is dead but still is good for parts such as A/C etc etc) So I am guessing thats a pretty good deal!

That's a BLOODY good deal - and probably worth getting g/box checked out before your put it in to ensure it's not shagged. Try and get the first half of the tailshaft that used to go into the w58 as well.
HPI (or Zoom?) did an article about putting a manual box intto a Cressida - it was a bit of a pain because the floorpan wasn't designed for it - that said, they were putting an R154 in which is a bit bigger. Also they did some mucking around with the clutch/pedal set-up to get it working. If I can find the magazine I'll scan the article and send it to you.
It's be worth it though, Manuals are a LOT more fun!!

And yeah a manual would be LOTS more fun!

any chance of getting some bits off the dead 7mge?
im not interestd in valuable working parts like the air-con compressor etc, but things like loom, ecu, mechanical bits etc etc... (esp if the loom isnt cut!) ... hell, if you wanted to offload block and head, id take it...
if you could let me know what your thoughts are, thatd be great!
cheers

I am not sure about the loom as I think he just modified it to fit the 1J but I am not 100% sure about that I would have to find out...
Heck if you want the whole thing throw $200 my way and u can take it ECU, Pumps, Alt, Head, block, injectors etc etc etc and if the loom is whole you can take that to!
I am only saying $200 as that is what it is worth to me to have sitting there as spares!

That list is handy, but I took it to the local toyota dealer and most of the parts aren't available anymore. Still handy for finding all the parts needed from a donor car or at the wreckers thought.
