Gtech Day
|

Guys and Girls,
I have to talk to simon to lock this one in but i have an idea.
Meet at Gosford for Lunch, BBQ/whatever is easy. Then head to peats ridge for an afternoon of Gteching. Basically a comp set up for 0-100 times. Have all the classes like at the dyno day and because u can loop that road easy and it is a 100 zone there shouldn't be any hassles from the cops. ( as long as wheelspin is kept to a minimum. )
I'll talk to simon and set a date. Day time because there will be no noise complaints and that is what usualy brings the cops to peats ridge.
What are your thoughts?
Luke

I'll be there for sure.
Where abouts at peats ridge is it flat enough though?
we were up there the other night playing with the g-tech and couldn't find a place I thought was good enough to quote times from .
By the way ... Night or Day I will still attract noise complaints !!

For sure, I'll be in. Once again though, I'm subject to shift work, so what day of the week would this be planned for? A weekday would be a bit quieter than thw w'end, what's your thoughts on that?
But either way, I'll do my best to make it.

My roster goes in 3 week blocks, so every 3rd weekend off (a 3 day weekend, which I'm enjoying at the moment), work 3days, then a thursday off, work 4 days, then a tuesday wednesday off, work 4 days, then a monday off, work 3 days, then back to fri, sat sunday off.
It's a pretty tricky roster to organise things around, so I don't expect you to be able to plan every cruise/event around it. The union is putting forward a better roster where we get 2 in 3 weekends off, and no single days off, so keep your fingers crossed it gets voted in.
BTW, I took out all the back seat, carpet and parcel shelf (it was soaking wet due to a leaking back window), and also pulled out the spare, jack and tool box & went for a strap, & it's amazing the effect weight has on a small engine. It goes noticeably better with really only a few less kilos (although all the water would have weighed up).

I'm very keen for a g-tech day. I've got over 200rwKw and have never timed it for the quarter or 0-100. Would be great, weekends are even better!

Becareful guys. You have to go faster then 100 to record your best 0-100 time. And cops wont be happy about the road be used for drag racing, whether or not its just one car

hopefully ill have the clutch in by then, otherwise we might have to open up a new category of 'most smelly'

Rod, bring the corona,it'll be good for a laugh.
It'll make an intersting entry for my little book.
besides, my brother and I had this rule where if you bailed on an oportunity to test with the g-tech then you copped a lot of shit and your car was labelled with the default time of 15sec. 0-100 and 20 sec 1/4 mile, untill you bettered the time. It used to sort out the walk from the talk amongst the cars at work. (there was a lot of v8 bullshit going on there, and no takers for a run against my celica).
after much ribbing my youngest brother, stepped up to the plate with his early 80's colt and cracked out a 21 second 1/4. He shoulda left it as before !!
Go the colt !!

I can probably make it. May be able to get another G-tech. My brother ran at the creek ages ago, the G-tech's times were always within about 3/10ths. There pretty good if you take the time to set them up properly, and can find a good bit of road.

Hey TOYO3T, What sort of times does your's do? Just interested to compare for the weight differences but same engine. Is yours auto?
I did mine on the weekend and got a pretty disappointing 14.6sec There was a few things against me though. -I had never done a quarter before -I have my skinnier tyres on the back cause i need a new set for rego and am getting some fun out of them. -It was uphill and slightly damp. -There was a lot of wheelspin until i turned the boost down. -I had another mate in the car who was reading off the rpm as i dont have a tacho(am making one right now) so i could get the gear shift points correct but i was very worried about revving it to hard. (I got a new super duper hi flow cat made of 3 inch pipe in a cat casing,if you know what i mean, he he he).

I have managed 5.41 for the 0-100 twice in a row !! once in each direction
and
13.7 , for the quarter again backed up by a run in the other direction.
I still think I can go faster though cos these were my 3rd and 4th runs , the first run was heaps better but I missed a gear by then tyres/clutch + heatsoak all take away from your time.
I'll just about guarantee that if the driver can put it together on the first run then there is very little point in going on ,, you wont beat it !!
Have you got a 1j in your supra ??
Mine is a 5 speed, an auto with simmilar grunt should do about .4 of a sec quicker everywhere.

I dont know Rod,
I've had no takers, do you wanna have a go ??
anytime any weekend, It only takes one other car to get me interested, Obviously I couldn't be bothered going out to test by myself..
"if a tree fell in the woods and noone was there to hear it ....."
you need an audience !!
so post up guys, Joel (Bigworm) you must be coming around to another free weekend soon !!
It doesn't matter what time you run, its fun trying !!! and you'll learn a lot about your car in readiness for the creek in July !!
drop me a line and I will be there.

What about this sunday? Or even friday as I have 3 day w'ends.....
Only thing is though, double point action, so we might be asking for trouble. Still, I'm sure we could do it while manage to do it without breaking (m)any laws.
What would be the best day to do it? Like w'end or during the week? Night or day?

It doesn't have to be an "EVENT" with trumpet fanfares and ticketape, just if people wanna join me and Joel, to do some times on sunday, then why dont we meet at hwkesbury like the last little cruise we did up that way.
1 pm.
come back on the OPhwy and do some times at peats ridge.

Haha, Luke you gotta get the pipes man.
I have a new PB, 5.36 sec. 0-100 recorded two up (me and toy77) in the car.
I reckon there has to be 1 or 2 tenths quicker with less passengers.
That was on Pauls Dyno plus too, i will post the graph.
