Looks good from the photos. How hard could it be to change it to manual if he realy likes the car. Any photos of interior and engine bay, please. Kevin

Tell your mate good luck with the sale. Hopefully the new buyer appreciates what they're getting.

thats very sexy. I almost feel like offering a swap. But I've spent around 6000 on my celica (minus stereo), would lose big and early in the process.

Its imac, They look a lot fatter than a MX-73 $4200 Bit more than i was going to spend........but its hell nice!!!
May have to give him a ring.
But arent the 5ME's slow and heavy on fuel???
Cheers

when tuned well, they're ok on the fuel. not great, but they are a 20 year old engine. They have a bit of poke... but for real fun conversion is the way to go

go to the "cruises and events" forum, and have a look at the dyno history for 5m-e results
for swaps, 7m-gte, 1jz-gte, 2jz-gte. A search of the "tech and conversions" section will show up people who have done each of these

Hey is the engine the 5me or 5mge, caus i was reading on celicasupra.com and they said ma61s come with 5mge article is here: http://www.celicasupra.com/historymkii.htm
im guessing the Ge engine would be better preformance wise

its the 5m-e unfortunately dude... they put out about 103 kw at the flywheel and about 65 kw at the wheels. certainly a lot more poke than a celica of the era.
you can find ed and rob's g-tech evening thread, and they whacked one on an ma61 supra. it was 0-100 in about 10 seconds with a passenger, without, i think they got 8.9 ....
but yeah... im planning a 7m/1jz/2jz swap in mine years down the track.... but in the very short term im looking at the 5m-e / mteu turbo option... many seem pretty against it, but im still doing my research...
id just like to add though, free bump, that ma61s are coooooooool

Hmm, i was kinda of hoping for a car with a bit more power than that when i buy it, i don't really want to screw with an engine transplant. Im still going to check it out caus its in really nice condition which is a bonus.
altho i could manage an extra 15 kw with extractors and a cold air intake right?

probably. there was a guy on here that had extractors and a 2.25" exhaust and claimed to keep up with VR commodores (0-100 in about 8.5 secs)..
so i dunno.
for the under 5k mark you wont get a car thats brutally quick, unless you get a commodore or anything like that....

the mighty 4m rips most commos a new ass hole, the only V6 thats given me a good run is my mates VP (5spd extractors cai podfilter) and thats top end.
but i think the auto 5me is a bit of a slug slap on a exaust/extractors + decent pod cai on there and a manual g box and it would go hard i reckon.
theres only one way to find out
