Given that neither car could reach the posted speed limit within 20 seconds, if the police sprung us 'racing', they would have charged us with impersonating streetracers.

Nah mate, I'm not stating what we already know.
I am saying that beating a crapcel is just like beating a 100 Y.O. bedridden granny in a 100 meter sprint.
Mmmmm.... Wait.... What am I saying?

Haha, you obviously haven't driven an RA60 Celica which would have trouble putting away a twin-cam Excel.

When you drive a barge like the Crown, you take ANY victory.
2 tonne of full chassis
Tired old 2.6 litre that has seen better days
3 speed column shift with a first gear ratio of ~3.8:1
(combined with) final drive ratio of 4.875:1 - means you need to change gears at 20 mph
All I can say is that it must have been piss funny to see.
I tried to drag a Hiace van last night - I lost, but got jeers of encouragement from the Hiace occupants. It's the most unlikely drag vehicle.

Column shift and hubcaps will remain for the 1UZ conversion. I have also put in an order for a sunvisor. Will be here next week.

Coming from the crown wagon drag racing freternity. I congradulate you GT on your win.
My car might look something of the goods but it to has trouble dragging off grannies in motorised scooters. Any victory is a good victory.
Can't weight to see your car finished. I like the idea of leaving the stockers on, I was going to but the 330mm disc's I want to put on only fit under 17's

What, to smaller drums?
Venetians may be available, you should be able to get them made up through rare spares.
Luke, keep the brakes you have. Use the force.

Nah, just a 1UZ. Turbos would be just a bit silly (in a good way)! Keep the column shift, but convert it to auto.
A nice old car my wife would be happy to drive. Sunvisor comes in a week. I have to find one more hubcap.
