pinion angle: best for launching?

I know the topic of axle tramp in live rear end toyotas has come up a few times, with several good ideas on how to eliminate it, but i'm still faced with axle tramp when spinning the tyres.
I have good shock absorbers, good king springs, and urethane bushes for the trailing arms. So I guess that leaves things like the diff pinion angle......BUT: what sort of angle should you aim to have? I am currently changing all of the diff mounts onto an F series housing, and so have the opportunity to set the pinion angle to whatever it needs.
Any advice appreciated (except telling me to get another car )
Cheers
Phil

Hey im sorry this wont be of any help to you,
but i was just wondering.. What exactly is axle tramp???
Ive heard it mentione many times on this forum and have never understood what it is meant to describe? I have been a toyota nut since about the end of 2001, and cant wait to line up my friends mazda rx2!!
I am curious because i have an old toyota RA28 with live rear end and have just put in an 18R-geu, i have KYB shockers and King springs all round, larger front swaybar and aftermarket rear bar. And noltec bushes in place of all stock bushings.
I am yet to drive the car but will in a matter of days..
What is axle tramp??
Why dont you get it in LSD/IRS rear ends??
Is it just when launching off the line at hi RPM?
Is it to do with lowering the rear of the car without modifying the panhard rod?
Anyway, id appreciate anyones answers just so i have a vague idea what this thread is about..
Cheers
Guy

Couple of points: you CAN get axle tramp with LSD/IRS rear ends. As for what it is, jump into a RWD car with stuffed rear suspension, dial up some revs, drop the clutch, and you'll soon know all about axle tramp

Axle tramp is when the driving wheels repeatedly leave the ground under acceleration, like a hopping motion. Its usually most common in cars with leaf spring suspension, but can (and does) happen to coil rear ends also. Its due to the suspension loading and unloading rapidly when torque is applied through the drivetrain. Good shock absorbers can help to damp this cyclic motion, as can keeping the suspension geometry as solid as possible through the use of urethane bushes.
It can happen with live rear end, IRS, open diffs, or LSD. I find it most noticeable in my car when both driving wheels spin, not with an open diff spinning one wheel only.

Somtimes i think maybe not enough power or revs will do it , ive had a car axel hop with the standard engine but with a engine upgrade it went away .

should I upgrade from my 4AGTE?
Did you happen to change the engine & gearbox mounts when you changed the engine? This could be a contributing factor..

I installed the Whiteline traction brackets/adjustable upper arms, played with the angle etc. a bit and all was then gone

two easy ways to eliminate this problem, change the rear suspension to slightly more softer, or run less pressure in the tyres.
Or just bag them up harder!!!!!
