MA61 suspension - few quick q's Sun, 19 October 2003 09:08 Go to next message
Ok, Im going to be putting all the suspension in this week, so its time to go shopping.

I need 4 new shocks (Im thinking KYBs here), 2 new front springs (Kings, slightly lowered if they have them, standard if not), and at the same time, while there is no engine and lots of room to work with, I'd like to do as many bushes as I can get my hands on.

Does anyone know of a place that stocks ma61 urethane bushes?

also any recommendations on the suspension while Im at it would be most welcome

Hi Draven,

Keep us informed please, as I'll have to do something similar to mine soon as well (except for the shocks)

Cheers

and what is a "rear mono-tube" ?
is that the sleeve of metal that goes over the shock?

a 'mono tube' is the type of shock absorber - its a single chamber shock (the simplest) without a secondary ported chamber, and probably isnt a high pressure gas charged unit either (usualy low pressure charged)

Wow! Thanks for the part numbers BlackSupra!!

funky
ended up going weith the kyb gas (KG) shocks, after advice from a couple of suspension guys.

and I recommend north parra auto one for anyone wanting anything.
Very helpful, nice, and gave me a nice discount too! Smile
plus parts that were going to take 3-5 days from other places are available in 1/2 - 2 days

uummm
*gets docket

lets just say less than $350 for a set of 4 KYBs (dont wanna let on too much - otherwise people will be heckling them for the same price I got) Razz
and also a bit over $180 for the front king springs. Which when compared to the other prices ranging from $200 to $210 was quite pleasant Smile (cost so much cause noone has them - have to be shipped from the qld factory)

thats quite good on the shocks indeed!

kings are probably a little overpriced (which ones did you get btw? and why only front?) but still reasonable Smile

im after some kyb's in the near future, ill have to go haggle this place you went to and demand at least $20 cheaper than what they sold em to you for! Nod

yeah
but I wasnt really keen on a trip out to penrith - hence going local.
RRP for the kings is $165+GST - so the price I paid is just about spot on

only got the fronts coz my rears are still in perfect nick.
the rears were about $10 cheaper I think

Hey Greg - how are you telling your rear springs are ok?
Just the height of the car? Or have you yanked them out & measured the unloaded length?
BTW - anyone know what the unloaded spring length is supposed to be for our cars?

picked them up today, and the quote had dropped quite significantly! Smile
