I think you may be a little off there mate
originally people used to say that anyone who drives an asian car was a ricer. This is quite a while back though. Now it has grown into more show than go sort of thing. Like ralliart stickers on a stock 1.5L lancer. You know whay I'm sayin?
Although, silly americans still think that anything that is Japanese is a ricer.

this has been discussed before
i thought it was more to do with jap cars being more efficient (eg running on rice) compared to the tanks at the time
yes it has been adapted to mean any car with any sort of bling
get new mags = rice
sport seats = rice
even my wipers got called rice cause they have the little fins to hold em down at speed... (aerodynamic aides come standard on most new cars now)
but like ppl are entitled to opinions and all, but each to their own
i'll certainly show my dislike for something, but i wont think anything less of the person because of it

My first thought was that small Japanese cars especially hatchbacks were called "RICE" because they resembled a rice granule.
Then I thought "RICE BOYS" were called that because they delivered rice and tryed to be really zippy in small cars around the city.
Its now developed into the all show no go like bassaholic said.
Sorry my eyes still hurt from the other nite, bloody LED squirters.
