Morning all.

yeh, since i put the gze in the temp guage hardly moves, sits nice and low unless its stationary and idleing, then the gauge moves to about half way, but never been over that.
is this right?

iv been told since it was a 4age twinky the guage would be set to that, and all i need is a 4age temp sensor and all is it, and it should go straight in to where the gze sensor is, is that correct?!

if so has anyone got a part number for one and a rough price?
thanks

Mine barely moves as well, its only hit 1/2 way once, on the way up the clide at crawling pace in 35degree heat.. otherwise when idling for ages it sits smack bang on the T of Temp, usually when driving it sits lower.. I figured if it did anything except that then there'd be something wrong so I don't even worry about it..

Yeh mine sits just under half, takes ages to get there if the car is stationary the hole time, but soon as I take it for a drive it gets up to operating temp pretty quick.

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. It probably doesnt go over half way at idle because this is where your fan is kicking in???

Ive found with a GZE with no thermostat, it will as darola said stay in cold mode, gauge hardly moves and even after driving for ages, pull up at lights and it will idle higher.

From memory its the same as the ge thermostat, they dont vary in size much.

I've got pretty much the same thing on my Rolla. Takes ages to get up to just under half way coz its a carby. if u get stuck in a massive traffic jam and cruise in 1st every now & then it'll go just above half way. as soon as u start driving again it'll cool off.

im not to sure but follow the top hose from the radiator and it should be undeneath where the hose is hooked on to the engine there will be a couple of bolts undo them take it of there will prolly be a gasket so id get some gasket goo and i would advise drainin your radiator BEFORE you do this unlees you like coolant spilling evry where.

please 4age boys correct me if im wroung

thanks for the replies people.

correct me if im wrong, im pretty sure the thermostat is on the bottom raditor hose.

i still cant understand why my old 4age never sat below half way and the 4agze hadly moves off the C line.

whats the temp rating for a 4agze/4age thermostat? does anyone have it off hand cos i dont really wanna drain my cooling sys and pull it apart to check.

maybe mines in 'cold mode' ?! my fan does cut in and out so that works fine
