Another 1jz thread!! Mon, 22 July 2002 03:39 Go to next message
Hi all,
Finished engine mounts over the weekend, pulling the engine out again to start the wiring & put the flywheel and clutch on.
Now for the questions:
I don't have the MAP sensor for the 1jz-gte, Do I have to use a genuine Toyota one (at $400 or something silly). Or can I use an aftermarket one??
Thanks in advance.

Glenn

I believe that you can use any MAP sensor that is 5V rated. When we couldn't get our 1JZ to start we tried a Celica unit and it worked.

Most toyota Map sensed turbo cars use a similar map sensor.

I'd suggest not trying to graft on a bosch or delco 2 Bar unit.

You'll have to host it some place other than geocities. Cool pic though. Should be a bag of fun.

Hi Pete

Did you know that Brent has another 1JZ motor.

This one must be from a Soarer as it is different from his old one. The waterpump doesn't have a hydraulic pump on the rear and the motor had a viscous clutch fanm on it.
