BEAMS 3sge into st184 Thu, 23 October 2003 05:36 Go to next message
hi, im looking at putting a 4th gen beams 3s-ge into my st184,, what sort of work am i lookign at to get this in.. well firstly will it fir.. i understand that it was in the st202 jdm so id *imagine* it should fit.. will it bolt up to the existing transmission in the st184, engine mounts etc..

how difficult is this swap has anyone done it...

i know ppl are going to say 3sgte but insurance is kinda an issue and this will be a daily driver. im not too keen to go turbo.

investigate insurance carefully before you jump into an NA conversion. Insurance co's are getting pretty tight about engine conversions and are starting to shaft any hi-po conversion. For example my insurance co wouldn't insure my old pulsar if I had swapped the SR20DE for a SR20VE (still 2L but with variable valve timing).
Location is important though. Conditions/premiums tend to be relaxed the further away from western sydney you get...

at current i have an st184 Smile

ive been debating on what to do.. ive been looking for a gt4 but decent ones seem few and far between. i was considering the 3sgte swap but im not keen on a fwd turbo. and i jsut thought of the jdm 3sge

if i was to get the gear id prob end up with a jdm st202 half cut.

as far as insurance is concerned i havent investigated that as yet i wanted to know if it would work first Smile but ive looked into insurance for a st185 and that isnt a problem.. and im in Newcastle so insurabnce inst too horrid Smile

toof, I like your thinking! When my engine goes, if it does, I would like to stick one of these engines in as I also don't want a turbo FWD, but would enjoy a little more perk... keep us posted on what you do!
