Well if you think about all the cars that are commming onto the market that have unservicable engines and drive trains I think the auto electricion has more of a future!

both are dead end jobs unless your really keen and motivated and have the know-how to start your own business down the track. do whichever you think you will enjoy more its most important that your happy with what you do.

If you want to be a mechanic try Diesel more money than auto unless you get into a prestigious car place and you don't get sick of working on your car as quick as auto.

there seems to be lots IT guys on toymods, and i agree computers suX0r.
IT = pretty much just a white collar mechanic, unless your doing high level developing.
if your looking for a interim job that pays ok, try rigging (scaffolding) for a coupla months. It'll get you fit and money is not bad. you wont go anywhere but it can give u a step up by saving some money and starting something on your own. just a suggestion.

Once I finish my electronics engineering I will be geting an IT cert and taking over the IT at my current work place I'm not sure what the pay is like at other places doing IT but the pay here is ORSM

IT used to be like accounting in the early 80's - you had to be an accountant to be recognised.
The y2k scam has put alot of businesses off IT - face it the IT industry ca$hed in BIG time on that. now business is paying for it and still paying for it and will be for some time.
IT where i am sucks. the demands that are put on the staff are unreasonable, the pay is just plain fucked and the conditions, well, the conditions are not bad but DON'T FUCK UP because you get CRUCIFIED - been there, done that.
and yes there are ALOT of IT people on here.

im a 2nd year mechanic, i enjoy it now that i work at a garage. i used to work for toyota but working for a dealership is fucked. it has SOME good points but the bad outweighs the good. working at a garage is good cause you learn HEAPS more, but i will probably get out of the trade sometime. its a good trade to learn cause you can always fall back on it and its just handy to know. but unless your really keen i wouldnt do it. if i could do it again i probably would have gone to uni and did something that actually pays decent.

I was at uni.. but the course i chose was heavily based on java programming which I did not like... And knew I didnt want to be doing for rest of life, I had a look at the IT industry and talked to people.. too many people trying to get in it and not many spaces..... so I left. and am dead for ideas.
Thought of mechanics as I also like cars and tend to learn technical stuff quick.... buuuut ugh.
I think I am gunna go pimp some transgender dwarfs....
(A joke, no dis if u r 1!)
