Shimming oil pump

I have reason to doubt my oil pump being slack. +20 years is good reason for me . But anyway, recently I bought few brand new rotor kits for it(I did get really good discount ).
Now I have been thinking of shimming the oil pump while its out. How thick shim I should start looking for. Some yank site suggest 1/8" shim for some american POS. 1/8" sounds rather thick to me. 1mm was what I thought.
Motor in my case is 3T if it matters.

for the K series, the TOSCO 3K manual suggests a shim between 2 and 4mm, and this is meant to up the pressure form about 40Psi to 60Psi.
i know it's a pain in the ass to change the shims, but i would start with getting a good oil pressure gauge... measure stock pressure, then add a 1 or 2mm shim, then measure pressure again..
this is for a 3K/3K pump, but i think it is the same style of pump.
depends how keen you are to pull the pump out again

Thanks oldcorollas!!!
I have decent oil pressure gauge. Although I havent put it in yet(too scared). Last time when I was installing oil sender, the old sender snapped in two. My attempts to remove the stump caused engine failure . Spun big end bearing because by some farking oil sender fragment . Engine was jammed only 990km after full rebuild . I still get bad vibes. Motor has lasted now 5000km after second rebuilt.
If I wanted to go through "...measure/rip pump out/install with shim/measure/rip pump out/install with new shim..." hell, I wouldnt be asking this in first place .

1mm shims work well for an 18R-C/G engine giving about a 15psi increase, which is useful. Like the other post said, start low, test it, move it up if you don't like the result.
Cheers,
Mitch.
