CMk2, that's my mate Dave. His nick here is "Cambelt". Shoot him a PM.
To answer your questions:
1) How long is a piece of string?
2) The standard 4M engine mounts will bolt up.
3) A lot of aftermarket gear is still available for them (certainly everything you mentioned there). Cams however would be tricky/expensive.
4) No idea what the requirememnts in WA are. I suggest you speak to your local registration authority (or search their website) to get more info.
5) In our brains.
6) My mate Dave. "Cambelt" on here.

thats cambelt's car AKA another slightly insane Dave
engine mounts bolt right up, use cressida 7m-ge A/C bracket
it will need to be engineered (assuming vic / wa similer laws ) if you want it legit as its 25% + turbo
replace the old rubber mounts with new/reco'ed ones as thay die otherwise and make strange sounds as your laping winton raceway

only reason for not haven aircon on your dayly driver is if your runing a gutless engine where every last HP counts

Does that say that im a wuss, i like my air con and pwr steer on my mk2 but if i do another 7m mk2 it definatly wont have air and maybe not steer. Room is the key issue with the mk2 , lack of it , because of aircon i have no intercooler , which limits my boost to 10 psi , i have 4 radiators on the front and if you deleted the air you may get a 40mm cooler in there.
coronamk2 pm me your no

yes, engineering is a 100% must
Perth has a 25% capacity increase, which u come under, but it also has a 25% power increase which you definately wont come under
jump in www.dpi.wa.gov.au got to licencing section, and find the planned mods form
fill it out, send it off, and wait for reply
then go for it

Loos like quite an easy conversion.
I live in QLD, so ditching the aircon is a bit of a horrible idea, especially at this time of year. I would probably do it in the interests of power & reliability.
Out of interest a 1G/1JZ/2JZ will not fit unless you convert to rack & pinion (even then you'll be lucky) or run a custom exhaust manifold.

Leigh, there are enough 1GGTEs in steering boxed RA-whatever to suggest it is possible in a Mk2, but I wouldn't bother - we have a decent motor to put in there.
I'm led to believe they slightly tilt the motor and lift it a touch....

As of tomorrow I will have 4 days off. I have a couple of phone calls to make about the rack and pinion setup. I will then contact those who are interested.
It will also give me an opportunity to sort out a range of things I haven't done over the last few weeks.

Cmk2, i know you're all set on the 7M route, but i thought you oughta see this - just in case
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&a mp;item=2439429795&category=18290
" 1981 Toyota Crown Super Saloons x 2. Both vehicles the same, both currently unlicensed. 2.0 litre turbo charged 6 cylinder (M.TEU) motors. .....
....Seller can assist with delivery in Perth metropolitan area, ... "
Starting bid $280. That's, umm, err, $140 per crown!
go on, you know you want that 4MTEU(?)
Oh and GT, consider me one of 'those who are interested' about the rack and pinion sturf.
