Airbag suspension??

Hey guys, I've pretty much given up on modifying the engine of my car at the moment but am still considering lowering my Cressida.
I want to lower it an inch or two but haven't done it 'cos I go up to the country about 3 times a year and need the clearance. Is adjustable ride height suspension adaptable for most cars? How much does it cost to fit a set of airbags to a car?...
Ideally I'd like to lower my car 3" and be able to restore original clearance for dirt roads and nasty speedhumps. Anyone have any info?? Particularly prices and people who fit this kind of thing.
Thanks, Simon.

The are standard fit style bags available but be aware they are not a direct bolt on (unless you own a honda) the fitting isn't overly difficult but it does involve in most cases relocation the shocks (as the bag takes the place of the spring) and fabrication of bearing plates for the bags (some use standard spring stops) or re building the strut to suit. Engineering is required but from what I hear they ride very well at standard ride height.
Pricing prolly around the $3000 mark depending on how elaborate the setup. you can get complete setups (bolt-on) for commo's hondas, Chev trucks pre fabed for around the 2500 for a basic setup.

I was quoted 9000 for slamming a hulux a few years ago but that is all in the knotching the drop spinals etc. (labor is the big hit) the gear is the cheaper side...

I did a quick Google search on "airbag suspension""honda"".au" and came up with no leads
the only other places I've seen deal in hilux's and don't really cater for sedans.
Sorry Dude

The early Subaru Liberty wagons were available with airbags instead of springs.
Raise the car about 2" on struts with independant suspension.
If they've made it illegal in Qld , I'm guessing that means aftermarket kits.

Nah it's just notches as far as I know. Air is alright (because some cars/trucks come with it standard), it's just (from what I've heard) that QLD Transport didn't like it that the chasis could touch the ground while moving.
I've heard nothing but good about http://www.thechopppershop.com.au (Syd) or http://www.fabricatethis.com (Melb) so they might be worth a call
And for what you need it might be a bit cheaper because you'd only want something fairly slow

I was at a mate's shop the other day and equired about the price of a Gates timing belt for an MX83... There were 2 types, one for the model with "air suspension" and one for the model without. WTF?! Was air suspension a factory option?
