Does any one know abt placing an amp near a speaker magnet, will it effect the amp or speaker at all? i.e amp mounter directly under a speaker with about 5cm to 8cm between them. good? bad? doesnt matter? its just a 6" midrange speaker. Thanks

Ahhh, I was asked this exact same question on friday! The first thing to do is check if the speaker magnet attracts the amps heatsink! The best way to do this is put some small screws/washers on the amp and put it where you want to mount it! If the screws/washers are attracted to the magnet you will have problems! If this passes the test you should have no problems! This only goes if your not using a cheap amp!

sure any magnetic radiation has an influence on electronics but the only time a magnet tends to interfear with electronics is when the magnet is actually moving around conductive material if the speaker is fixed in that position and the amp is fixed in that position and don't move around significantly then i can't see any reason why it would make any difference there are hundreds of sound systems and electronic devices with in built speakers right near the main electrical components and theres no problem with them so hows it any different may as well test it out as nothing bad will happen from it, i have two speakers right next to my head unit and nothing goes wrong.

The problem with having magnets close to an electronic device is the fact that the magnetic field could possibly change the effective value of the internal inductors! If these values change dramatically you could/will damage the device! If these values change just a little you will effectively shorten the life of the electronic device!

Maybe because that they have thousands and thousands of dollars spent on the design of them! I work with portable radios, repairing and assembling them! Any good quality radio has proper sheilding for any important areas of the circuit!
