Hmm cogs and stuff? You are turning the actual dizzy aren't you? You should only have to loosen the bolts a little bit and turn the entire dizzy assembly, you shouldnt be lining up the actual cogs at the bottom!
Thats how I read it anyway!

Ok, since my car didnt come with the Check connector plug in the engine bay i had to short T and E1 from the ecu
I thought it wasnt shorting out so i checked the 2 wires
ifound that the T wire coming out of the ecu leads no where?
what does this mean and where should it connect to?

Also, another thing to add when i bridged the wires i didnt notice a change in rpm at all. I used the incar tacho to verify if rpm dropped and it didnt move at all.
cheers

I just need to know where your T wire leads, if its meant to lead anywhere?
It might be purely for diagnostic purposes...IE it would lead to the check connector.
thanks

well when ever i jump mine it drops the revs. (but i idle at around 1000rpm).
also your check engine light should start to flash.

all i can suggest then is to see what your timing is at when you dont have T shorted to E1, and then short T to E1 or ground and put the timing light on again and see if there was a change in your timing marks.
if there is a change, eg. the timing is/should be retarded to what it was with-out T on E1.
then you know that you should be right to set base timing at 10 degrees.

on my wiring diagram and ECU pinouts on the 4age in the manual, you should be shorting these ones:
