To have, or not to have External Antenna?

Hey All,
My MA61 is starting to rust like fungus around the rear antenna. Should I weld a plate and seal the hole so it will never rust again . If so What should i do for an internal antenna? What makes and models are avaliable?
-or-
Should I keep the rear antenna and just fix around the antenna hole?
I haven't decided what to do... Please Help?
Cheers.
PS. I do use the radio now and again

The antennae for a soarer is in the rear window.. Maybe there is some way you could get off one of those and weld up the hole!!
To fix it properly you will have to cut a fairly big chunk out, It starts out small but when u start getting all the flaking rusty metal away the hole will double in size.. Id repair the hole totally with a new plate and affix another antenna somewhere.. Maybe you could use one of those stick on ones that those mobile phone incar systems use to have..???you know in the center of the rear window??

Nothing beats a roof mount rubber antenna for the authentic R/C look

Is it possible to run a dual purpose antenna ?
Radio / UHF .... or by means of running UHF through the radio ? split antenna selector?
Apart from obviously being different sizes, and possibly made of different metals. Any ideas ?

Excellent... now to find a motorised UHF antenna, or will a radio antenna do the job (not a very good one...)

What do you want a motorised one for? You can get UHF antennas that you can also use your stereo with!

So it is rectractable ?
I dont fancy a huge 6 foot antenna that tickles the underside of 'Gods' ass.... they are thick and ugly and a bilboard for thieves who want a quick steal...
Hence the option of running UHF off a larger car antenna however suffering a great loss in service area

They are not retractable! And they are not as big as you would think, they are mostly small stainless whips!

thats something ive always wanted to do to my ma61,
the antenna in there is so big and ugly, it does look like an r/c car. its permanenently retracted now,
i would love to stick some hidden antenna on, like a strip of wire in the a pillar or something.

Hey All,
What should I do though and No... I will not have one of those rubber antennas since I have a spare mast for the OEM Electric antenna fitted to the car...
Cheers.

My old 1962 EK Holden didn't come with ANY sound system. So I hid the deck in the glovebox and bought an internal antenna. It's just a little booster box with a wire hanging out of it. I put mine behind one of the sunvisors. Very discreet.

Check on some of the car audio sites (clarion, Kenwood) I know clarion do a internal one but off the top of my head I think it is for the tv tuners but you could check anyway.
else go to the wreckers and look for the newer cars with no antne and get the factory ones. I know Range Rovers had them back in 93-94
