I use 1 1/4" section with good effect. You could go down to 1" for better gas velocity, but I doubt you'll notice the difference on the street.

Yep, stick to the large stuff, there hasn't been enough done with the smaller diameter pipe to quantify the results.

Specpipe in Blacktown specialise in boiler building among other things and you can buy usually off the shelf all sorts of bends. they can also do radial welding
