chris,
i put a 3sge into my ae86. it's not that hard to do.
you will need to update the brakes & diff as well (mine ran a 7.5" diff)
body strength is an issue - especially with a 3sgte!!!
i've got some pics of the engine mount mods too somewhere.
(there is aobut 4 ways you can do this mod) suggest you speak to an engineer before you get too far into this conversion

Hi T,
I would like to know what you did about body strength. Did you stitch weld it and if so at what points?
Thanks

well the car is geting a full cage soon - that will fix it!!
if you jsut wanted to seam weld, the best place to do it is around the tranny tunnel & chassis box members.

A serious diff upgrade will be in order to handle the torque of a turbo 2 litre engine. The 7.5" F series is a good option, but if you're planning to be brutal with it an 8" G series may be a wise investment.
Note that you can't really set up a car for drift and drag; if it's good at one it will be poor at the other!

You can't get a rear suspension to be both grippy and slippery at the same time. If you want to go for both drag and drift, I would suggest looking at an adjustable ladder style rear end. Either that or you will want to be able to adjust the rear end height by a considerable amount every time you change your mind. This will be a compromise for you though and neither height set up will be safe on a road car.
For drifting you will also want to put in a really big rear anti roll bar, maybe even thing about reducing the front one as well.

Toby,
Is this a race only vehicle, or are/have you street registered it?

Hi John,
Toby is referring to a race car, hence the full cage. Not street registered at all.
