I've Got A Sore Knee!!!

Well after way too long in the shed (nearly two and half years), I pulled the Celica out for a track day yesterday. Chucked a set of R compound tyres on, filled it up with 98 fuel, and went sick - I quickly realised how much I'd forgotten after not having driven the car for so long!!!
I'm only 5'10', but still run out of leg room in the car, and as a result, my right leg rests against the door for support mainly. The problem with this is, my knee rests on the window winder handle, and after about 25-30 laps, it left me quite sore and a bit swollen!
Also had alot of trouble with corner speeds, into and through the corner. I could blame the fact that the new turbo is very smooth and progressive, resulting in me not realising how fast I was going, but it is actually more due to the fact of driving incorrectly!
The brakes which I feared would kill themselves after three or four laps (only got a street setup in it at the moment), lasted remarkably well, and by the end of the day, the fear had gone and some good continual stabs brought back a bit of encouragement. They worked well for 8 or so laps, then slowly got a bit dodgy, and if they were cold on the first lap, they wouldn't stop, so I dragged my foot on the brake for the warm up lap on the two straights and they were fine.
All in all, alot to "relearn", a few mods to try before the next day, and must remember to set the alarm earlier so I don't rock up late again!!!

No, went to the Collie Sprint Circuit with the Mini Car Club. Yes it's for sale, currently at $7500, mainly due to the fact that I want to start a new project (a Sprinter with more attention to detail). I'm quite comfortable telling people how, why and where I use the car, this is why I've built it and the reason it's not a $3500 car!

Best thing about my car were the tyres - they were fucking awsome! It's a great feeling to push a car hard into, through and out of a corner, at speed and still feel totally comfortable doing it - I'm never going back to street tyres on a race track again!!!

Nothing ever comes for free. While at the track I blew a heater hose, spewing coolant all over the engine bay (fortunately I brought mode concentrate and hose with me), and having just moved the car this morning, have also discovered an exhaust manifold leak, and a blown rocker cover gasket! More things to attend to before the next time!
