6m-GEU to 7m-GTE Mon, 22 July 2002 13:36 Go to next message
The 6M-GEU in my MZ12 Soarer needs a rebuild, and I'd like to take this oppurtunity to upgrade to a 7m-GTE

now as I live in Townsville/QLD, Its not so easy to find someone knowledgable on such engines, or that is willing to do a slightly tricky conversion

I know the Z2 soarer came with a 7m-gte,(z1didn't)
How different are the front end chassis?

basically, If I purchase a 7m-gte front cut, will it go straight into my MZ12 soarer

AND will a 7m-gte SUPRA front cut serve me the same purpose as the soarer front cut?

or can sombody suggest another option?

if theres nothing majorly wrong with the 6m i would get it rebuilt and just put on the 7M turbo manifold no change of engine number!

guys in the usa are maken more power with 5M heads on the 7m block (basicly a 6m)

im sorry i have to be blunt, ARE YOU THICK? how many times have people said "tighten the head bolts and the gasket wont blow" why stuff around swaping engines to a complatealy different type when 30mins with a tourque wrench and the problem wont happen FFS!!!! (that could even meen Fast Fours Subscriber! - the pictoral mag for the modern version of the mullet equiped 80's holden and ford owner)

I've heard that about the 5M (6M) Heads also. any idea why?

another thing to keep in mind is that a have a 6M-GEU, not a 6M-GE

Mine is the 24Valve one, which seems top be extremely rare & pisses me off no end

I've priced a complete 7M-GTE for $1500, turbo's, loom, ecu, auto g/box with an apparent 43,000km's
sound good?

the only thing troubling me is that its from a supra, not a soarer, hence different computers, hence no instrument panel.

Another thing

I know you you wont like this Allan, BUT

I have sourced a 1JZ Soarer Complete half cut for $2500
but what kind of crazy money would I be looking at to fit it in a Z1 soarer?
The Wrecker guy swears to me it has the exact same engine mounts etc

does he speak the truth?

are you shure its 24valve??? please get pics!, the MZ12 uses the steel and rubber mounts same as the MA61, not like the JZZ30 alloy ones at all!

That what I though, the lying son of a bitch!

yup, positive its the 24V, I'm afraid I don't have a camera at the moment, but I assure you the 6M-GEU IS 24V, not like the 6M-GE

mine basically looks just like a 7M-GE, cept without the 7M-GE on the timing cover Laughing

also that $1500 GTE I mentioned above is only missing a harmonic balancer, should be hard to source one should it?

i wonder if the Z2 Soarer Dash would fit in mine
(in case I can find a Soarer cut)
AS Z1 & Z2 have different looms & computers
The whole dash layout is different
