KE-55 convert from 4K to 2T-g

I've found my engine the 2T-g with a compression of 210, i have the 2T-g cross member, now i need to know what i will need to get it passed engineering. I plan to upgrade the front brakes to vented disks MAYBE get the t-18 drums cause I've heard they are bigger and bolt on. The car will be stiffened and lowered. Also upgrade gearbox, to 5 spd. I've heard my Diff is Borg-warner and will be able to handle the extra power generated by the engine, and the tailshaft from what others have said will be also able to stand up. Just some help and guidence would be great thanks loads.

your diff will be fine, as well as your tailshaft (with a new front yoke).
if the engine is heavier then yes you will prob need to upgrade the brakes, but remember you MAY not have to.
i am using a 1UZ-FE in my old datto and i don't have to upgrade the brakes (i'm just using soft pads with a lot of bite). the brake test was $200 from the engineer and was a complete emergency stop from 110kph and it passed with flying colours.
you may not need it for engineer's cert, but it's a good idea AFTER you get it licensed. if you start mucking with brakes you need to get certification that the swept volume is sufficient, the proportioning is okay etc etc. (ie not cheap).
just good pads and some stopping practice beforehand should see you thru....just.

I've got a 2TC in my KE55, not for performance, but because I had the parts lying round at the time You can use the 2T engine and T50 5 speed no worries, but here's a few issues:
*You have to convert the clutch to hydraulic. Not hard, as the markings for the hole in the firewall are on the pedal box
*You can crowbar the 2T mounts onto the original 4K ones, but it's a tight fit, and the tailshaft is about an inch too long then. Ideally, modify the mounts slightly for a neater fit!
*The borg warner diff is utter crap, but will last OK if you don't treat it like I treat mine I'm onto my 4th one now...
*I understand with 2TGs the carb is awful close to the brake cylinder, but this isn't really an issue
*The tailshaft will fit straight into the T50 box, but as I said it's a bit long if you don't screw with the engine mounts a bit
Hope I haven't missed anything!

Ahh, just noticed you say you have a proper 2TG crossmember - that should sort out all the mounting issues!

Just for the record, my car pulls like a rocking horse
But then again it wasn't meant to do any good considering the cost!

Mrshin thats still sweet, it would go better than stock wouldn't it? Hopefulyl after i do some cam work and maybe post n polish and with the right extractors i can get a bit more power out of it. fingers crossed, i don't want anything lethal just something to get me from A to B a little faster than the 4k currently does. thanks again to all who have helped so far

Course it goes harder than stock - but a well buggered, stocky 2TC ain't gonna excite anyone... Some cams etc. in a 2TG should be a lot more exciting though
