How much is it to get a new wheel bearing? plus labor to get it done?
A wheel bearing is about $6, but how much plus the labor?
Also, how much is it for a RWC?

wheel bearing - typically anything from $25 onwards
remember grease to pack them
and then labour to do this is anywhere from $50 + per hour
a RWC inspection in VIC (this is only to inspect and tell you what needs fixing) in VIC is $50. repairs and labour - well that depends what needs to be be rectified.

Well Norbie i did end up asking a mechanic HAHAHA!
Anyway he sed that because it is the front wheel bearing which needs replacing, it will cost $160 cos its a front wheel drive and they are quite dear. and about $300 including labor.
yeah and a road worthy was about $55.
i dint realise it was quite expensive for this problem, so i guess i have to take this into account when i purchase this '92 celica sx. thanx for the help dudes!

has anyone had to get their front wheel bearing replaced in their celica? is it really true that it costs like $160 for a new bearing?

well the guy who im buying the car off sed that the front bearing needs to be replaced. apparantly he took it to a mechanic and he sed that it would need to be replaced. anyway when u drive it, it makes a slight rattle sound, that means it needs to be replaced yeah?
anyway another question is it possible for the registration to change over to my name with the car being unroadworthy? or does the car need to be roadworthied to change the rego over to my name when i buy the car. cos he wants me to do the roadworthy when i buy the car. mainly cos i talked him down quite a bit off the price and he sed, for that price he cant do the roadworthy for me, and that i'll have to do it.

i wouldnt be a tight ass... just pay him what he wants to sell the car WITH a RWC... otherwise for saving a few $, could could end up buying a load of shit... you just dont know it yet. are you prepared to take that risk for meagre savings on the purchase price?

im not just saving a few pennies here............ im talking about saving $1250 off the purchase price.
The car is getting inspected before i buy it anyway so they'd pick up any other faults and defects in the vehicle.
but what i'd like to know is can the rego be changed over to my name if it hasn't been roadworthy tested? or does VicRoads require a roadworthy cert to changeover the reg to my name?
