one word
DRONE!
2 1/2 would do nicely
it depends how much you like your ears or if you want to sound like a lancer

I doubt a 3" system would be noticeably better than a 2.5" system. Supercharged engines are notoriously loud, so I think it would be a bit impractical to have a 3" system on a street car. If it was a turbocharged engine it would be a different story; a turbo is a rather effective muffler.

i wouldn't of thought that a supercharged engine would be any noisier than a n/a engine - they have essentially the same exhaust system, correct?

you will get away with single strait threw muffler and cat with a 2 1/2 you'll end up getting a sticker with a 3" and have to put 2 mufflers or a resonater on it.

I am currently running turbo with 3 inch.
Got into trouble with the cops.... lucky he let me go without charging me
I am going to put an extra muffler this weekend
haha
for daily driving purpose, I am considering putting a ZE instead for reasons like Air-con, maintenance etc.
Also easier to get engineering cert

Forced induction = much greater cylinder pressure + greater exhaust volume = more noise.

I have a mandrel bent 3" system on my Celica, after an hour driving it, the drone is enough to send you nuts. I have chosen to keep the system as the car has become less of a road car, and more motorsport orientated. The exhaust uses one Dynomax 3" straight through stainless steel muffler, and a T28 turbo. Ideally on the street I'd use a 2.5" mandrel system with the same style muffler and turbo.
