haltech f7 map wiring weirdness Fri, 31 October 2003 07:02 Go to next message
ok my 18rgeu is almost there now.
but now it is the wiring, of the fuel system. Now the car actually runs so i am in the tidying up phase.
when i turn the car to start, i don't get a fuel pump noise, this only occurs when i try to crank it. Does anyone know how to fix this issue, i get the feeling that there is not enough fuel pressure initially when the engine starts.

now obviously i would need to give you's the colour of the wires and where they are connected to but at the moment i am at work so can't tell you. And i was kinda hoping someone has one of these and could tell me straight away.
i can tell you there is a long yellow wire that isn't connected to anything.
and a brown and grey wire that go to the solenoid.
and i think from memory a red wire that goes to always power on
and the obvious wire (i think either pink or orange) that goes to the fuel pump.
but which one gets to the fuel pump to come on at start rather than at crank, if i am making any sense.

I have a haltech F7K as my EMS and the same issue occurs, mine has been professionally installed and I asked the installer if it was all ok and he said yes.

when the F7 is powered it should prime the pump for a few seconds, then when it sees an rpm signal it will run the pump.
thats how it designed to work.

That's the problem, it doesn't prime on start, just on crank.
if you are cranking it then that would be the rpm signal then wouldn't it.
I found the unconnected yellow wire is apparently supposed to be connected to something that gets voltage when cranking.
I connected this up but alas no change (actually that's not true, i did get a voltage drop when i connected the wire.).

as I said I have the same issure, when I turn to "on" I only sometimes get the sound of a fuel pump but mostly I dont hear it when I turn it to "on". Perhaps it is something associated with Haltech F7. Who knows? but my car seems to start and run fine.
