Cressida Fuel Pump Resistor Fri, 31 October 2003 22:21 Go to next message
I just intalled a 240SX/Silvia spec Walbro 255 fuel pump into my MX83. I was curious, with this new pump do I need to retain the factory fuel pump resistor? Do walbros run on straight 12v current?

Thank you.

Apparently Walbros don't like to run with a resistor. Most of the MA70 guys bypass their resistor after doing the Walbro upgrade.

When I fitted the Walbro to my MA71 I retained the factory resistor to run the dual voltages as per the standard pump setup.

I had no problems with this.

However, a friend did exactly the same thing and you could tell when it was kicking from low to high voltage so he removed the resistor and it was fine.

If I was you.. I'd install it, see how it goes.. and if it becomes a problem then remove it!
