Difference between 7MGE and 7MGTE ECU's?

Well I've put a deposit on a cressy and I should be picking it up in a few days. Of course the first thing I'm going to do is put the turbo engine in it. I'm just wondering if there is any difference in the plugs/connectors for the 7MGTE ecu. I'm hoping it will just be a matter of taking out the 7MGE ecu and plugging in the new 7MGTE one - but will all the plugs match up?

We are here to quash your dreams. Totally different. Just off the top of my head, the GTE has 2 inputs for the KNK sensor, and has 3 IGN outs for the coils, whilst the GE has 1 KNK and only 1 IGN out. I am sure there are others.
Just swap the loom.

not a chance of pulling this off...
if engine conversions were as simple as unplugging one, and pluggin in the next, everyone would be doing it 
love to see what the 7mgte ecu thinks of the AFM signal it gets...

I think he's also swapping the loom (I hope) and wants to know how speedo, tacho etc will wire up

bloody hope so 
7mge and 7mgte do have reasonably different engine/chasis loom plugs. i think B1 is basically the same, but the other 2 are different. also depends what year cressy and what year 7mgte it is. if youre going from early to late 7m series (or vice versa) its a world of hurt

Speedo wouldnt be affected.

Ok so im going to hope that you purchased a 7MGTE as a complete package with the correct loom and ECU for its year model?
If that is the case, then all is not lost!

Actually I haven't bought anything yet (except the cressy!). I figured I'd play it safe and ask all the questions before I buy the bits.
