not on this forum....thats the really annoying thing. You ask a question and 1st thing someone says is do a search. have you perhaps given some thought to the fact that most people would actually search and if they cant find the info then post a question...sounds logical doesnt it Razz

i've searched and found nothing relevant....if anyone cares to point me in the right direction it'd be appreciated. The only info i could find was gt apex vs gtv....is that the same as kouki vs zenki

well not quite.....

GTV vs GT APEX is the difference between the mid range and upper range model..

zenki vs kouki is the difference between the revisions..

zenki(83-84).
kouki (05-87).

mechanically, not much difference. (small revision to the motor).
the kouki also has a different LSD center.

front bumper bar and trimmings got replaced (both levin and trueno). same with the tail lights.
interior is different color and styling.

All aus specs look like a zenki levin SR.
takumi drives a GT Apex trueno.
Tsuchia drives a kouki trueno.

thats just to get the ball rolling.
rock on.

ALSO....

in japan... ae86s come under two names... either the

SPRINTER TRUENO or
COROLLA LEVIN.

in australia.. there is only one kind of ae86, so they are all called sprinters (simply cause of their trueno tail lights).

for aus spec vehicles, kouki vs zenki does not apply.

Re: Kouki vs Zenki Tue, 04 November 2003 05:37 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Hey Shcao,
Is the aus-spec sprinter tail lights exactly the same a sthe truenos besides the redline and whiteline ones?
And would a JDM centrepiece that has the numberplate lights fit between the aus-spec tail lights without a problem, and dare the lights wide enough to fit standard NSW yellow num plates?

the aus spec tail lights are exactly the same as the japanese "ZENKI TRUENO's".

On my friends JDM ae86, the standard victorian liscence plate fitted in between the liscence plate lights
on the body of the car.

Considering if the centerpiece on a whiteline or redline does not differ in terms of liscence light position, I dont see why not.

Garth is going to get a pair of redlines (lucky bastard). ask him to be certain.

-----

It's pretty funny tho... In australia, we got exported the levin front end, and a trueno rear (lights).

In the states, they got exported the trueno front and the levin tail lights at the rear...

wonder why it is so.

yeah.. you HAVE to drill a hole through metal surrounding the rear.

The lights themselves are really hard to obtain.. (especially redlines). Naturally, they cost an arm and a leg. Someone on the forum were selling a set of whitlines recently. Price was pretty average.

If you want the JDM liscence plate light look on the zenkis, here is a dodgy trick.

On the corolla ae82 sedans, remove those liscence plate lights and mount them on... woooala. They are almos the same... (but not exactly).

only problem is that you'll still have the crappy aus spec liscence plate lights on your rear bar. Even if you remove them, you are stuck with two big holes. and Where the hell are you gonna find a jap spec rear bumper?????????
