the rolla boys are gonna say rolla
celica boys will say early celica
the supra boys will say early celica (since you wont be able to afford a supra you'd want)
what do you want in a car? your best option on a $2k budget is probably a rolla or celica, if you're intent on a toyota. N12 exa is another option, although at that price they tend to be rusty and falling apart.

Might be able to pickup an RA65 for that price but it might need a little work. Very nice cars and I would have gone for one if the sprinter hadnt come up.

The first page of the Cars for Sale & Wanted has like 3 alone and while they are $4k you could probably find something cheaper or haggle. Try doing a search there might be something in your range for sale.

my tip is an ae82...
I reckokn the hatches look nice..
they are real popular with the sound gurus.
And can be modified easily with a 4age... or ze or even 20v.
rock on.

yep, an ra2x look tough and is a pretty good little car - 18r-geu fits in nicely, and 1g is common for good power.
they can be had quite cheaply, but dont expect an immacualte one for $3k.... but if you get an ok one for $2k - $2.5k, then you got $500+ left over to do it up!
ra65s are nice - but a half decent one will cost you all of your $3k
too tired to think properly - will try and answer more sensically tomorrow
