Hey, i want to get my 18r-g rocker cover chromed but it has a few chips and scratched in it. Not just in the paint i mean into the ally. What do they do about this when you get it chromed? Is there a way of getting it fixed uP before chroming? has anyone done this that can give me guesswork price on it?
Thanx
Steve

They'll get filled up with weld (TIG), then smoothed. Get the cover polished, not chromed. That way, it can't flake off in years to come! Polishing alone will be around $80 I have been told.

Because its ally.........it can be anodised so you can choose your colour and it will last forever

If you do consider annodising, get the cover polished first, as you will still see through the annodising to the bare aluminium alloy. I've seen this done on quite a few car and industrial pieces - the polished then annodised approach gives a much richer colour, and some say a better adhesion to the annodising.
