Go the 7m, you'll enjoy skating past 1G equipped cars with the wheels spinning

You prbly much more in the know that me , but I thought that for the sump you would be fine if you use your 4M one?
(just I've read about a 5M-E -> 7M-GTE in MA61's and I think thats what he did?)

Having put a 1GGTE into an ST141, I can say with some certainty that a 7MGTE would be no problems. Ideally you'd run a W58 5-speed, that way you can run a tailshaft off an RT142 and the box will bolt to the floor and the shifter will line up perfectly.
You also end up with the engine in basically the ideal spot - may be a little massaging due as the 7M has a coolant hose coming out of the back of the cylinder head on a ~60 degree angle. Aside from that and the radiator relocation I see very few issues apart from legal ones.
To my knowledge there is no state in Australia which would allow you to register such a machine.
A 13BT, SR20DET, 1UZFE or 1JZGTE might be a better option - although on the 1JZ and 1UZ you are likely to need expensive custom manifolds made up.

well if i can't get a 7m corona registered then i might have to go for the 1g
otherwise could take it down the tracks and screw around with it
not bad for $1500 tho...

everyone says 13b, sr20 better then the 1g?
which would be cheaper, less hassle, more powerful and worth it's dollar?

Why can't you get it registered? I know a guy with a 351 mark 2 Escort registered and a 351 Mark 2 Capri. They have engineering certs though, you might have to get that done, but i thought you did with nearly all engine conversions?

Sounds like the engine conversion rules in the NT are a lot more relaxed in the Eastern states! There's no way a 351 in an Escort would be allowed here...

it could have been engineered a long time ago before the current capacity laws where brought into place.
now a 7M-GTE in a anything after a RT132 is legal, but installing a 7M will be MUCH more hassle to get it to fit in the bay.
