R32 GTR brakes onto AE86

hey all
Would it be possible to adapt GTR brakes to a jap-spec AE86?
Im thinking that, because the caliper is roughly in the same position on both cars (ie in front of the rotor) that all that is needed is an adapter plate to mount the caliper in the right position.
if not, do any companies make a caliper + rotor upgrade for the AE86?
cheers
chris

anythings possible if you have the money to spend. your best looking into the rx7 upgrade as it has been done enough times before or if your on a budget (which you sound like your not) you could opt for the heavier but cheaper hilux/pug upgrade.

No company will sell you a caliper upgrade package off the shelf for an AE86. I have seen a TA23 with R32 rotors and calipers and it was custom stub axles as well as rotor mounting bracket to make it work.
If you have the dollars, go for it - anything is possible. And, if you have not already, spend an hour going thru the catalogue at the DBA website - that should help you as well.
Cheers,
Mitch.

In da butt?
Best bet would be to fit S13 struts and then r32 brakes onto them.

How hard is the RX7 brake conversion? What series RX7 would you use?

you think $1K is steep for the rx7 upgrade? man your on drugs i would pay that any day
just to do the hilux/pug one cost nearly that much i would definately pay a little extra for the rx7 brakes. i got quoted $2K from a place in melbourne to do it and then i would still have to take it to melbourne

And yes, I am fitting GTR brakes (R33 V spec) to my ae86 - be a few more days till the rotors arrive though, then I can start taking happy snaps of what I'm doing. PM me to remind me to keep you informed

If people can send me pics of their brake upgrades and a short rundown on what parts needed to be changed, what parts were used and so for that would be GREAT.

Mines still not done yet, I'm waiting on the bloody rotors to arrive... All up cost is pretty low though, and a lot less than $1500 I'm using Crown hubs, 5 stud pattern, fitted a 1 inch cylinder (MX83), going to fit Falcon rear brakes, etc. Power? Still working on the engine too, it'll be a few weeks yet as well, but I'm basically looking to give myself a fright

Hmmm, I gave my 4AC about 45,000km of abuse, ended up giving it to a friend because the bugger refused to break... I had about 150kw at the wheels with my car before, before I got bored with that, that's what inspired the brake upgrade
