3S-GTE into ST162

Hey, what's up. n00b to the forum, here. I own a black 88 Celica GT, 5 spd. I'd been planning to sell it for the longest time, but I recently noticed that Venus Auto Recycling is selling complete JDM 89-93 Celica AllTrac front clips for $1000 plus shipping
What all would be involved in swapping the JDM 3S-GTE engine (225HP stock) into my car? Would it bolt right up to my stock tranny (FWD)? The exact same engine came in the 88-89 AllTrac, so I figured the swap wouldn't be much of a problem. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thx!
(BTW, the code for my stock engine is 3S-FE. 115 raging horses

For a fwd, I've seen it advised to get an mr2 (rear engine mounted for rwd) cut and you then can more easily setup a 3sgte fwd from that using it's diff.

I've been reading that the 3S-GTE from an ST185 should bolt right in to a Celica with the 5SFE engine. However, I have the 3SFE engine, and I can't find much information regarding my ST16x Celica; all I'm finding is info to swap into a ST18x FWD Celica.
Help!

Swapping any 3S into an already 3S setup car shouldn't be overly difficult, although i only know the theory behind it all. I also have an ST162 SX tho. but they would be almost in the same position for this swap. From what i have herd, the best way to do this esp. with so much power would be to use the MR2 gearbox as it is allot stronger than our FWD boxes. the engine should go in easy, but theres always little stuff ass bits which are gunna piss u off.
There is also some debate that the 3SGTE needs the starter motor on the gearbox. My current setup (dunno about the 3S-FE's) has the starter on the engine, so there is no way i could use my current gearbox anyway. The SV21 Camry gearboxes (they also use a 3S-FE so you might already have a camry type box.) apparently have the starter on the gearbox which is what ya would need.
This is all just rumour about the box. I dont know for sure any of the gearbox info (cept the MR2 stuff) if someone would like to correct me, i would appreciate it.
Thanks

So the MR2 transaxle should pretty much bolt right in place of my FWD box? I thought maybe it wouldn't be compatible since the MR2 is RWD, but I guess since the MR2 and Celica have the drive wheels situated directly under the engine, it would bolt in.

Well, think about it... a FWD car has its engine East/West Technically called (Transversly Mounted) The MR2 although the engine is at the back, is still East/West
there is a good website on the swap and what gearboxes to use.
Type "3SGTE ST162" or somthing in Google.
But yea, the MR2 box would be the strongest for the power ur talking. I couldn't imagine a FWD box lasting too long under what... almost Double the power it was designed for.

the MR2 gearbox will FIT in but you have to relocate the shifter forks using FWD type.

I'd love to see a steering rack in an MR2 ½ cut
