G'day,
im about to put a new exhaust on the ae92. i've got an ae101 map gze and im about to put an oversized pulley on it.
i am going from 2" to either 2.25 or 2.5" mandrel bends.
What is my best option?
(does anyone have the same setup?
thanks heaps!

id say seeing as 2" is usually optimal, with what you will have most power will be reached with 2.25", more than that and you will start to lose optimal power gain.

I have 2.25. If you go 2.5 it gets VERY loud.
I'd recommend the 2.25 and get some good extractors. Makes a world of difference.
Just my 2c

Hi,
I've got a 2.5" mandrel bent system. I haven't finished the wiring on my car yet though, so I don't know how loud it is going to be. I know a guy who owns a transport approved inspection station though......

personally i have 2.25" going through into 2.5"... i've never driven another gze with a different exhaust setup so i can't really comment on its effectiveness, but i have nothing against what i have now...
Good set of extractors is worth its weight in gold...

my old gze had 2.5" mandrel with dump pipe....was incredibly loud...sounded almost rotor-like actually. If i was ever going to a mates place they could hear me 2 streets away
i'd recommend the 2.25"
either way the gze is notoriously loud

if you do got 2.5" and dont want hassles from cops for being a loud mofo get a resonator/restrictor (whatever its called) fitted to the muffler to dampen the sound a little.
A good exhaust shop should be able figure it out

I dont reckon it matters much either way. 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 will both be alright. And as for noise, the number and type of resonators and mufflers will have a big effect.
I went 2 1/2 because that was the diameter of the end of my extractors. With a cat, resonator and straight through muffler it is reasonably loud, but not painful.

I took my car to an exhaust place today and he reckoned that a 3" with a resonator and decent muffler would be fine. It also futureproofs the car for turbocharging. How much have you blokes paid for full exhaust and extractors? He quoted $900.

I got the same setup - pretty loud but u get used to it. Depends on how u dampen the sound, but as they say 'the bigger the better' ! (but not too big in this case!)
