I was just making sure that all, there seems to be a lot of free-play (when i turn the tail-shaft by hand) then what i would consider normal.

the s-series diff takes exactly 1.0 litre. (aus-spec povvo)
the t-series diff takes 1.3 litres.

in the australian climate, toyota recommends using a straight SAE 90. (for anything above -18 degrees Celcius)

it is, however acceptable to use 80W-90.

UNLESS you have an LSD in your car, then you use LS90.

and Simon is right...changing your diff oil will not solve an excessive backlash problem.
