Sprinters in Aus Thu, 06 November 2003 10:13 Go to next message
While admiring them for a while, I'm new to the world of Sprinters. Could someone please explain which model is which, which ones were available in Aus etc... Are the AE86s the ones that are RWD but look like a corolla front on? What years are they, and what are they worth (in basic trim, no mods). I can't seem to see any advertised for sale anywhere though!!!

Cheers! Very Happy

man in aus there is one ae86 and its the sprinter. no levins, no truenos, no nothing. sprinters have 4ac carby motor which is shithouse. they go from 83 to 85 and are worth around $1500 or up to $3500 for a really good one.

they've got an open diff...
drum brakes at the rear.

and they sold in pretty small numbers... So if you want one, you have to be patient.

I've heard they were available right up to 1988
False claim?

really its an inbetweener, while yes we didnt get our 4age's or ventest disks, we DID at least get the right chassis and so forth like hydraulic clutch.

Think of it as an ae85.5

If it has AE86 stamped on the bulkhead it's an AE86, period.

julz, for the first few months of 1988 some runout models were shipped. This is in japan of course.

prolly floor stock.. but I'm sure they were all dated 1987 at the latest.

youngy.. you hit the nail right on the head..

it's the chasssis that makes the car, not the components.

rock on fellas.
