Anyone here know if a place exists to get 4A rebuild kits at a resonable price?
I need the usual stuff, bearings, gaskets and probably pistons.
Apart from toyota genuine of course

Just ask for a full ACL rebuild kit and an ACL dualite piston kit from nearly anywhere, but its better to get the block and crank out and see if they need machining, then get the kit with the right sizes.

any idea what an ACL rebuild kit might cost off the top of your head? would you recommend it?
I didnt really want to go custom pistons, this engine isnt anything special, its my backup engine (carbs, dizzy, mech fuel pump) it just wants a freshen up. But if new pistons arent too exy, why not

Off the top of my head the rebuild kit is somewhere around the $250 with head gasket i think may be a little cheaper, and about the same for a set of ACL pistons, sorry i cant remember exact prices as it was over a year ago i rebuilt my engine.
And yes i do recommend them alot of people 4AGE's here are built using their kits and pistons

thanx for the reply. thats ok then, i can handle $500 or so ... i was holding my breath for a ridiculous sum of money for what is realistically, a low performance engine (4AFC)
anyway, i spoke to robin at perFourmance today, and he is looking into it for me. I hope to be rebuilding in about a month or so, during my next week off work.
Dont suppose anyone has any idea about mikuni/solex carbs? I have twin solex's on a 4AG that is idle atm. For simplicity I wanted to use these on the 4AFC instead of the stock bullshit. one of the accelerator pumps is busted tho.
Ive heard carb-inject ?? are good for jap carbs? any ideas?
