Crank angle sensors and microtech help please

Hey guys, I am an old school guy points/dwell etc. I desperately need some expert electrical advice.
Putting a new computer MT in a TA22 with 3TGEU.
Can an old dizzy with a hall effect sensor act as a crank angle sensor?
Hall effect sensor, has wire in wire out. = 2 wires
Crank angle sensors appear to have a signal generator, and a hall effect sensor. = 4 wires.
If I hook this up incorrectly, I risk damage.
Tis a tad too late in the evening to call microtech, any help would be greatly appreciated,
regards, Chuck.

Hey mate, to run sequential fuel injection you will need a 4 sync pulses and one reference pulse.(At No 1 TDC)
Your sort of dizzy will not provide this sort of signal. It will run batched injection.
You may be able to buy an induction pickup for no 1 spark plug to give you the reference pulse.
(Get a second opinion, I am no expert)

Charles Microtech should be your first point of reference. Give them a ring and put the problem to them. If that does not help we should get together and have a read of the manual.

Thanks guys, Microtech have configured the computer for a CAS, and advised us to use any late model Toyota CAS , fantastic in theory, however most "late" model Toyota's use an OHC driven distributor or CAS, not an old side cam design as in the 2TGEU. HUGE problems in trying to adapt a CAS to fit into a tiny 2TG dizzy housing. To the Electrical: A true CAS requires; a. Crank angle reference signal generated by a multicog toothed wheel passing a hall effect sensor, and b. TDC or home signal, again utilizing a hall effect sensor. If I send the computer back to Microtech to be configured to use the single hall effect sensor, I will lose sequential firing of injectors, and the ability to drive coil packs.
Has anyone got any suggestions on another engine type which could be canabalized to get a CAS

just a question, what is a crank angle sensor? my friends commadore had a problem where it would just stop whenever it wanted to and they found the problem to be a crank angle sensor so i was interested to know what this actually does? whats it there for?
Asking questions is the only way to learn.

Crank angle sensor simply tells the ECU what position the crank is at. From this information, the ECU can derive RPM, when to open/close injectors, spark timing etc ...
So without it (on a system that requires it) you are pretty much fscked

I know with some other ecu's you can setup an equivalent crank angle sensor with magnets or chopper disk on the main crank pulley and a bracket with sensors on it.
Maybe microtech can.
