How much oil in a T50? Fri, 07 November 2003 13:01 Go to next message
I've done a search, and tried google (albiet quickly).

Need to know how much oil a T50 takes cos im having troubles getting the filler plug off. The drain comes off fine of course.... so i was going to fill using the selector hole which is what i usually do on the celica (is easier).

SO yeah, how much oil in a T50 gearbox please?

Thanks for your help all

P.S. Im nearly done! Evil or Very Mad

If you go buy the rule of "fill it up to it starts leaking out of the hole" then it 2lts.

I believe the owners manual says about 1.5ltrs.

Believe what you want too.

My Toyota Chassis manual has 1.5 Liter or 1.6 US quarts or 1.4 Imperial Quarts...(SAE viscosity 90)
Everything I have ever read about viscosity has hedged about recommendations because of the widely varied stresses that lubricated equipment are subject to AND lots of times its all about "average"...would welcome any input on the subject...Cheers..

I would like a definate answer on how much oil goes into an Aus-Spec T50 Gearbox. I have rung Repco and his doco says 2.2Lt but I have seen on here that some say 1.5Lt??? Which one is it?

And in order to put the right ammount of oil in should the car be horizontal or should it be lifted at the rear for the oil to drain into the gearbox?

Thanks,

I just changed my oil yesterday and it took 1.6ltrs.

Just fill it untill it starts to spill, then you'll know its full and exactly how much it takes.
