Fuel pump for 18RGU- EFI Wed, 24 July 2002 11:05 Go to next message

I'm converting twin solex's on my 18RGU to EFI from an 18RGEU motor. What pump should i use?
I've been told a VL pump is good- what else would be good/be cheap?
How much should i expect to pay for one?
I've got a holley red fuel pump at the moment, would that be ok?

Thanks peoples Laughing
Ben

When I converted my RG over to EFI I used a 2.0 L Camira pump and have no probs whatsoever. Picked up the pump for $40 secondhand.

i say SCREW DAT!!! haha

convert those dodgy twin solex's to twin webers! nothing beats a good weber or two... except maybe EFI... but that doesnt sound anywhere near as cool!

out of interest... what ecu are you using?

Before I went to EFI I converted over to 45 Webers with velocity stacks and socks. Sounded like sex and looked oh so cool.

What I didn't miss was the lousy fuel economy, the webers went hard but the EFI is just as good if not a bit better powerwise but with half the fuel.

hahaha... i know EXACTLY what you mean buddy.... add to that my car itself looks like sex (the mustang fastback lookalike).. and you can understand why i like the webers....

so the EFI really is a marked improvement on fuel economy?

Shit yeah!!
I was lucky to get 250 - 300K's out of a tank with the Webers (which were dyno tuned) now I easily get 500.
This is in a RA23.

Well I didn't know the Camira pump was the same as a VL, gotta be happy with that. As soon as you say Camira, halve the price.

I also have a Camira pump in my RA23... works great! And I second Kev's comments, my twin sidedraughts used to look and sound fantastic, but since I converted to EFI it goes better and uses half the fuel. It's even more economical than my old stock TA22 which probably had half as much power!
