Supercheap? Superripoff!

As you do, I sold my last 3TGTE exhaust manifold gasket the other day, only to need one today! Went to my local Supercheap store and asked for a gasket to suit, where in the guy behind the counter proceeded to call Toyota and came back with a price of $94.25, I started laughing at him. He then called a non genuine supplier and wrote his buy in figure down in front of me, $12.60. After some feverish calculations he came back with a new price of $26.?? Now, I'm not too sure of the exact figure as again I started laughing and walking out. I went to Auto One and bought the gasket I neeeded for $14.00, I'm happy!
I seem to be striking fucking stupid prices alot lately, it certainly pays to shop around and have the ability to do mental math on the spot! I am still wondering however, if the guys quoting the prices feel like the absolute tosspots they make themselves out to be, be quoting such prices?!

I've given up on supercheap as all they seem interested in is selling whats in the store like pedal pads or Z9 filters.
If they need to get it in then they aren't interesed and quote stupid prices i think.

I find Supercheap really useful for general stuff, much better than Marlows ever was, if I'm looking for parts I usually go to Repco or get my mechanic to order them in trade (like if I have to get them from Toyota).

I have found Repco to be very expensive for m! And they don't like me either! They are always mean to me and I just can't handle it *sniff*
Always try to charge me stupid prices on brake pads. Save $40 at least on the same pad and go to Brake Pro in Thornleigh. Good bloke there. Oil is expensive there too, generally $5 more then I pay at a little servo near my place.
oh yeah, and they tried to charge me some stupid price for a ball joint (then I went to toyota, and THAT was stupid too) so I bought some other brand and it has broken again within 1/1/2 years. Toyota this time around.

I rang around everywhere getting prices on a VRS kit for my old 7MGTE, and was getting quoted upwards of $350 (trade)
I ordered thru REPCO, few days later went in to pick it up and someone else served me. The bloke who I was originally talking to must have written down their buy price, and this other guy charged me it ! $180 smacks! I was grinnin when I walked out

It was the same for my 6M
Coventrys were a little bit cheaper than Toyota, but Repco was only half that. I just asked for a trade price, and quoted that when I paid for it.
Them - "How much were you quoted?"
Me - "Umm, $188.40"
Them - "Nope, $188.50, 10 cents off"
hahaha

My local Marlow's (Freo) changed to Supacheap.
Marlow's was always good with a good selection of parts on the shelf and the blokes there pretty much knew what they were talking about.
Now it's Supacheap there's just shit on the shelves and the staff don't have a clue!
Replaced a decent W.A company with another crap eastern states outfit!
Repco will get all my business from now on.

repco are picking up their game - the Rip Every Poor C..t Off i think has started to hit home.
i get stuff thru my mate or his rep - the repco rep is grouse!
otherwise supercheap *can* be good for on the shelf stuff, bog, thinners (sometimes) just general shits and bits otherwise it ain't that cheap.
i have found the "autopro" store here in hoppers crossing to be very very good and competitive also.
i tell you what though - meridian motorsport - only a new business but their prices if you compare em to like GMP's - meridian are the shit - definately very worthwile shopping there.

i try to go to warehouses as much as i can... like NASON engine parts near moorebank, the PBR warehouse up north (well, north of Camden ) etc...
most places are happy to sell at trade for cash if you don't stuff them around... usually is half the price of instore...
