sumitomo
how are they wearing, evenly or unevenly?

also, sumitomo have a bit of a reputation for wearing a bit more quickly than your average tyre (although they do grip very well)

Freak you got all the weight of the engine and transaxle over the tyres. extra weight extra wear.
just like most transaxle FWD cars, the drive tyres wear out quicker than the others.

Does the N/A MR2 have an LSD?

An LSD equipped car usually wears rear tyres quicker than an open diff because as you turn a corner, the inside rear wheel is slipping and wearing on the road.

Check the rotation indicater on the side of the tyres, most major quality brands have the tyre tread which only works one way, going the other way will wear out super quick,

Just a thought.

Hope it helps

Some Sumitomo tyres do have a rep for wearing out quickly. How are your shocks and springs ?
How many times does you car bounce up and down if you push down hard once on each corner ?
Cheers,
Mitch.
