Black ma70 side stripes??

Just a question. I have those standard grey side stripes on my car. I want to make them black. What would you guys recommend? Do they come like that at all? Is there some paint that I could use?

Can you buy them from toyota? I wanted to replace my stripes at the back (under the tailights and around the rear quarters) and could buy them from toyota. For $160 ea!!

if it is like the door trim on a celica, it should be no problem.
There will be some glue stuck to the back which will have to be removed (razor/acetone) and same on the car (acetone, careful work with like an old CD or somethign to scrape it off)
make sure you wax and polish any areas that got acetone on them.

This is what mine looked like dude
I just carefully took that off and then went and got some double sided 'body tape' at repco.
Get quality stuff, mine wasn't strong enough and the trim started to come loose. I had to use a little bit of contact-adhesive finally to keep it down.
But contact adhesive pretty much rules out ever taking it off again without damage.

I have to agree. Colour-coding is usually a bad idea, especially on a car like this which is almost all black as it is. You need some sort of contrast to break up the masses of black, and the grey plastic strip does the job nicely!

Well, each to his own. I havent decided for certain, but I do like the look. Never really gone for grey as a colour.

This is very true. l am thankful for my black stripe which breaks up all the white (yeah, I do have white wheels) but it divides the car nicely and gives it a sharp straight look.

Ha ha I think he is still attached to the car - even after he sold it to you!!
But it's your car now So I'd drive around his block a few times with Britney Spears pumping on the steroe and chrome wheel trims and a 4inch coloured exhaust tip just to remind him it not his baby anymore! Perhaps that will break the attachment....

Thankfully that as he was falling down this bottomless pit, Rob's arm get hooked over the last remaining wind thing. And just as lucky it happened to be the one clutching the black strips. And it balanced there until he was able to come and rescue them out of the evil grasp.

Ouch. Mcbain gets hit by detatched leg. But then, recovers, picks Rob up (detatched leg and all) and throws him THROUGH the door of his car, steals the parts that he needs from the st162 (as dodgy as that car is) and puts them in his beautiful 7mgte, and drives off into the sunset.
